Show Notes: Caring for Our Female Athletes

Hello and welcome!

I am so excited to release this episode. It feels like a while ago since I chatted to Kate Mahony (@Kate_Mahony_) on this topic due to the whole COVID-19 lockdown, which meant that we had to fast track a couple of other projects. But as soon as I was sent Kate’s research paper on female athlete health, I emailed Kate to ask her to be a guest on our podcast. Kate Mahony is the current head of performance health at NSWIS after completing 3 years as a sports physiotherapist for cricket Australia.

The report was written as a result of the Churchill Fellowship which she began in 2018. This involved travelling around the world to identify the best practice for sport science and sports medicine for female athlete health. The report was unreal in terms of how practical and easy it was to understand and apply which is why I am so excited to have Kate on this podcast!

You can find the Churchill Fellowship application page here.

and for a link to the full research paper click here.

If there are any pieces in this podcast that do resonate with you, particularly if you are a female athlete, then please get in touch. You can find our initial assessment here which involves receiving an in-depth personalised recording on what your next steps could be and what areas we can improve upon in terms of your overall nutritional needs.
