Ingredients
- For the filling:
- 700g granny smith apples
- 500g berries of your choice
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 lemon (juice of)
- For the topping:
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2/3 cup rolled oats
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 180c fan-forced.
- Peel apples and then cut into 1.5cm cubes.
- Place apples and berries in a bowl and sprinkle with flour, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Pour lemon juice over apple mixture and toss.
- Spread out evenly in a 1L baking tray.
- Place all topping ingredients into a bowl. Mix until clumps form like wet sand.
- Spread over the apple and berry mixture, crumbling with your fingers.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream, custard, yoghurt, or coconut yoghurt.
Gluten-Free Adaptation:
- Switch flour for Gluten Free variety
- Switch oats for quinoa flakes
Low Lactose Adaptation:
- Use coconut or lactose-free yoghurt or ice cream
